About Linux
Linux is a computer operating system. Windows XP and Mac OS X are the two most readily known and used operating systems with Windows being the most commonly used. Windows and Mac operating systems come already installed on a computer being purchased or the installation CDs are purchased to be installed on an already owned computer. The first major difference between Linux and other operating systems is that it is free of charge. That is correct free of charge. Linux is part of the GNU General Public Liscense.
