Mexico

We traveled to Mexico in August of 2007. We decided to travel to Mexico in order to visit Roger's family, visit ruins and scuba dive. Huricane Dean was also traveling to the coast of the Yucatan peninsula. This was also our first trip traveling with our friends, two other couples who were probably our closest friends before the trip began. To this day I still can't make up my mind as to wether the trip was a disaster or not. This story, like many other stories can really only be told from the beginning.

Summary

Before We Leave

On all of our national and internationl adventures I had always done a lot of background research of wherever we were going before the trip and then set up hostels, train rides, car rentals etc. when I arrived in the country or city. I had never set up anything and paid for it before hand. While traveling within the states it is easy to make a credit card reservation for a rental car or a hotel room and you know what to expect and you also know when some one is ripping you off. You know when some night clerk is telling you a tall tale and you can call him out on it. In short, while in the states you have all kinds of rights. Besides you can never tell how a place is by the phone or the internet. I always want to be in a position where I can walk away. Putting money down elimates or diminishes that opportunity.

Sights to See

If you are going to the Yucatan Peninsula you will have to see some ruins, the cenotes, some pueblas, the big hotels of CancĂșn and possibly do some scuba diving. The Yucatan Peninsula consists of the three Mexican states of Qintana Roo, Yucatan and Campeche.
