So I have decided what I want to study. I have it all planned out. I wil first attend the Universidad de Puerto Rico. I will complete a Maestría en Artes en Estudios Hispánicos along with a Maestría en Lingüística. This will take me roughly two years to complete.
After my studies at the Universidad de Puerto Rico, I will then attend the University of Miami in order to complete the doctoral studies in Spanish. This will probably take 5-7 years to complete. Then I will hopefully find work as a professor.
In order to start this I have to take the Graduate Record Examination GRE. On average people spend 2-3 months prepareing and studying for the GRE before taking the test. A lot of people spend 300-1,000 USD on prep courses in order to learn the best way to take the test. My scores on this test is not at all an indicator of how well I will do in any doctorate or masters program. In my case it will have absolutely nothing to do with what I intend to study in graduate school as it will all be in Spanish and have nothing to do with the circumphrance of a circle. This web site is dedicated to all my rants and raves about having to take the GRE.
